Will Our Struggles Ever End?

Oh, how we want them over.....finished....gone forever! But alas, they never seem to find their way to closure.

Sure, old problems disappear, but sooner rather than later, they take on a different form or new ones appear, which are often worse that the ones we had.

Yes, our struggles will end when we die, or perhaps earlier, when we are so physically and mentally impaired by age or illness, we are unable to cope.

In the meantime, we can do much better in actually dealing with the issues that really disturb us and prevent us from finding deep satisfaction in our living.

And precisely how can we do that?

In the first instance, as already indicted, there is the simple aceptance of the inevitability of our having struggeles. It " comes with the territory," as is someitmes said.

By such simple acceptance, there is real easement to our worry over our struggles. For we accept their reality, which enables us to deal with our issues head on. We don't run from them, which is a sure path to disaster/

Secondly, we can minimize their impact. More often than not, our struggles solve themselves. We get divorced. We move to another town or city. We get a new job. The particular struggles we had may simply disappear.

But if "running from them" is not enough, we can minimize our struggles by working on the issues that created or maximized them. We can be better spouses and parents; we can do a better job of showing that we care and are concerned about our neighbors and the people we work with in our jobs.

Our final suggestion may surprise everyone; \ we can deal successfully with our struggles if
we ignore them. They're there. There' not going away. But if we simply avoid dealing with them, they usually will not get worse and will continue on their way to solving themselves.

Which is why I'm ending this.
